2023 CKST Registration and Coaching Announcement!
Hello CKST families,
Spring is here, and with that, the new season is right around the corner. We have some exciting news as we have a new head coach this year, Kit Barwick! We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Kit to our CKST family. She brings several years of coaching experience in the Denver area, as well as a competitive swimming background. She is a veteran U.S. Marine who was selected multiple years for their triathlon team. Her compassion and care for the swimmers on the team are evident from the moment you meet her. Please join us in welcoming her to the team. I’m sure you will be hearing from her in the near future.
We are thrilled to have Cara Laughlin back for another year as an assistant to continue the traditions and her love of the athletes. We are still on the lookout for a second assistant coach, so if anyone knows of a capable and friendly swimmer who would be interested in filling out the last coaching spot, please feel free to send them our contact information.
In addition, we have now opened registration! Follow the link found here: https://ckstdolphins.swimtopia.com/ to register today. Be sure to register early to ensure a place on the team. After you register, be sure to check out the apparel here: https://outofbreathsports.tuosystems.com/stores/ckst23 . If you are interested in getting a suit, you can stop by “Out of Breath Sports” to try one for sizing. Each brand fits a little differently, so we encourage you to stop by and try one on. Note their relatively new location near Broadway and County Line. We would love for each swimmer to have a team suit, but know that it is not a requirement to compete. The swimmers should have a one piece racing suit for females, and suits that hang no lower than the top of the knee for boys (jammers or “speedos” are recommended, as baggy shorts act as parachutes when they swim).
Anyone who is interested in joining the ranks of a volunteer official, please reach out. We can’t have too many, and the more we have, the lighter the load for the others. There will be some training sessions coming up through the league. If you are interested in learning more or are a returning official, please contact ckst.president@gmail with your intentions and I will keep you posted on dates and times of the training. Best of all, by being an official, it fulfills all your PPF shifts. How could you possibly say “No”?
As a reminder for anyone currently swimming with another club, to be eligible for meets other than duals (KC Invite, League, State), you need to no longer compete or practice with your other club on or after May 15th. If you choose to practice with your other club, please let us know so we can account for that appropriately within the league.
Lastly, anyone who owns a small business, visits a small business, or loves someone who knows a small business, we are accepting sponsorships again this year. They will get their name in highly visible areas, such as T-shirts, and help our young swimmers enjoy their summer swimming.
If you have friends that you would love to share your CKST experience with, be sure to forward this email or post on your social media to show how excited you are about your upcoming summer plans. Thanks everyone and we look forward to seeing you at the pool!
