CKST Families,

A few important announcements as we get ready to get the season started. 

First off, be sure to have downloaded the Swimtopia app and logged in. Make sure to turn on the notifications too. This will be the method which the coaches will reach out if there are any time sensitive announcements, such as cancellations or delays due to weather. 

On that note, the weather this week looks like it could go either way. We intend to continue to hold practice as long as it is safe. Keep in mind that being safe and enjoyable are two different things. You know your swimmer better than we do, so if you have a kiddo that if having their first swim team experience be one of shivers and blue lips could cause mental distress for the rest of the season, please don't force the issue. 

If you have a swimmer in the 5:00 or 6:00 practice this week, please be sure they check in upon entering. Someone will provide your swimmer with a lane assignment and write it on their hand. The coaches have estimated the lane assignments based on known experience and lane volume. As mentioned in the parent meeting, we expect some changes due to lane capacity and progress kids may have had since last summer, so be patient as they work to get them in the best spot for them. 

During the second week of practice, we will try something new, and have a suit/gear swap each of those nights. If you have old suits that your kids have outgrown and are still in good shape, feel free to bring them during the 5:00 and 6:00 practices to see if someone wants to buy them from you for a good discount. 

A reminder for anyone swimming with another year round club. This weekend are the last days to compete or practice with that team and still be eligible to participate in KCI, League, and State. If you choose to swim with both teams on May 18th or later, you can still swim in the dual/tri meets, just not the larger meets listed above. If you do swim with two clubs this summer, please let me know by responding to this email and letting us know so we can make note of that. 

Lastly, on Thursday 5/21 we will host a CKST officials training session. If you have previously officiated and intend to help again this year, please respond to this and let me know. We didn't have anyone attend the league training the other week so officials are in high need. If you can help, please attend a training at 6:00 on 5/21. Thanks for the help!
